What is the Road to Heaven?
The Road to Heaven is a long, straight road across the Great Rann of Kutch on the Khavda–Dholavira route, with white salt flats and water on both sides. It is one of the most photographed drives in Gujarat.
Best time to visit
Early morning and the hour before sunset give the softest light. The winter months are the most comfortable for travel in Kutch.
Travel tips
- Carry water and snacks — there are few facilities along the road.
- Stop only at safe places and keep off the salt flats when they are wet.
- Respect the area; do not leave litter.
- Check road conditions before you travel.
